275 MW Peaking Plant

Areas of work: Power Generation

Description

The project scope was to deliver the mechanical design for the balance of plant systems for a 275 MW peaking plant to support Ireland’s energy transition.

The plant enhances energy security during peak demand and serves as a backup to renewable energy. Design tasks included multiple iterations to meet planning layout requirements, AFT xStream fuel gas transient analysis for stability and safety, and compressed air system design to ISO 8573-1 Class 2/2/2 standards.

Fuel and tank systems were designed to PSLG and API 2350 standards, with hazardous area zoning for gas and fuel systems. A firefighting system Basis of Design was also delivered.
