Dublin Zoo Water Treatment

Description

The Sealion Cove Life Support System (LSS) at Dublin Zoo is a modern saline water system designed to conserve water and salt while ensuring clear, hygienic conditions for Sealions and Penguins. Our water division, WEW Engineering, was commissioned to assess the plant’s processes, equipment, and control systems.

The survey identified key issues, including excessive operator involvement and a lack of automation and instrumentation. In response, Dublin Zoo engaged WEW to design and implement phased upgrades to improve system efficiency, automation, and hygiene—while minimising disruption to the exhibit.
