Solar PV Expansion Feasibility

Areas of work: Renewable Power

Description

We completed a feasibility study for the expansion of solar PV generation at a major international airport. The objective was to identify technically and commercially viable sites to install an additional 10 –12 MW of capacity. The study reviewed both airside and landside options and considered integration with battery storage systems.

Site screening, yield modelling, and glint & glare impact assessments were conducted on the prioritised sites. Design options included ground-mounted arrays, rooftop systems, and solar carports. A scoring framework was developed to rank potential sites, accounting for planning risks, constructability and financial paybacks.

Project Elements:

  • 70+ sites assessed
  • Site prioritisation matrix
  • Electrical tie-in
  • Carport PV feasibility
  • Land acquisition review
  • BESS integration feasibility
