DN600 ball Valve Replacement

Description

Loughshinny is one of two landfall sites owned and operated by GNI connecting the Irish and UK gas networks and is a critical piece of national infrastructure.

A small leak in Pig Trap door at Loughshinny that could not be repaired due to a DN600 ball valve (XV70202) being inoperable.

The project required the existing DN600 valve to be cut out and a new replacement valve to be installed in its place. Due to the requirements for hot works, the valve was isolated, before being cut out and replaced by a new valve that was installed using two golden welds.

A special temporary pipe restraint was designed and installed to prevent any movement of the pipe after the weight of the valve and Pig Trap were removed.
