Fingleton White were appointed by Irish Shell as the Engineer and Project Manager for the redevelopment of the authorised distributor depot at Capital Oil, Newbridge.
This included the design, material procurement, planning, construction supervision and commissioning of the site.
The existing depot was decommissioned, all hazardous wastes were removed by a licensed contractor, eg oil sludge, contaminated soil and materials.
The existing storage tanks were replaced by 3 No. self bunded tanks. A two sided bottom loading skid complete with 3 No. loading pumps was installed to replace the existing top loading gantry. 1 No. offloading skid complete with 3 No. offloading pumps was installed. The layout of the site was designed to comply with SI 313 1979, whilst maximising ease of use on a restricted site area.
The installation of the self bunded tanks with integrated bund alarms & high level alarms together with fill preset and truck high level & earthing controls has minimised the risk of any environmental impact. The adaption of bottom loading of trucks has similarily greatly improved operator safety. The finished site allows for greater storage capacity and greater throughput occupying a reduced site area.
